The unique, boutique Goldener Hirsch Inn is the only family-owned luxury hotel in Deer Valley Resort. Since 1992 it has been owned and operated by the philanthropic Eccles family whose roots date back to the late 1800’s and who have been part of the development of Utah and skiing since then.
Named after the Hotel Goldener Hirsch in Salzburg, Austria, the Goldener Hirsch Inn is Deer Valley’s premier small luxury hotel. Opened in 1991 by the Countess Walderdorff herself, the hotel décor and ambience were influenced by her introductions to the same Austrian furniture makers as the original hotel.
The Goldener Hirsch Inn is an Eccles family jewel. “Over the past 20 years we have all been involved with the Goldener Hirsch, choosing the furniture, antiques, and art objects together, overseeing the exceptional service that is our hallmark and tasting the wonderful creations of Chef Ryan to ensure that our guests experience the warmth and attention of a visit to our home,” states Hope Eccles, President.
Known for their involvement with the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and the Sundance Film Festival, the Eccles are often found greeting guests on Saturday mornings prior to their weekly family ski day. They look forward to welcoming you back to the Goldener Hirsch.
Their focus on exceptional guest service and attention to detail has earned the Deer Valley luxury hotel numerous awards and ensures that their guests feel like VIPs from the moment they arrive. Most recently, the Hirsch was again selected by the World Ski Awards as the Best Ski Boutique Hotel in the United States. The Goldener Hirsch has been a AAA Four Diamond awardee since 2008.
Nestled in the heart of Silver Lake Village and just steps from the lifts and ski access, this European-style lodge features just twenty rooms, allowing it to offer intimate, personalized service alongside five-star amenities, including European king beds, plush robes and slippers, and an acclaimed restaurant that has attracted consistent rave reviews.
The award-winning restaurant has earned a wide range of accolades including Best of State in 2016, “Extraordinary” from Zagat, and Top Restaurant recognitions from Condé Nast Traveler, Salt Lake Magazine, The Park Record and Salt Lake Tribune. Relax by the fire in the AlpenStubé after a day of skiing, hiking, mountain biking or shopping, or retreat to the secluded third floor lounge for hot chocolate and warm cookies.
